CLAT 2016 Cutoff(Expected)
CLAT 2026 cut off refers to the minimum rank or score required to secure a seat in the National Law Universities (NLUs) participating in the CLAT exam. After the CLAT 2026 result declaration on 16 December 2025, the cut off is used in the counselling rounds to decide which candidates get admission to different NLUs.
The cut off varies every year depending on factors such as:
-
The difficulty level of the exam
-
Number of applicants
-
Seat availability at each NLU
-
Candidate category (General, OBC, SC, ST, etc.)
After the result and each round of counselling, every NLU publishes its own cutoff list (opening and closing ranks) based on the allotment lists issued by the Consortium of NLUs. Candidates who meet the required cut off for their preferred NLU are considered for seat allotment.
You can check official CLAT 2026 updates and counselling notifications on the Consortium website: consortiumofnlus.ac.in/clat-2026 , and detailed NLU-wise expected cut offs on leading portals like Careers360 and Shiksha.

Factors Affecting CLAT Cutoff
The CLAT cut off changes every year due to several key factors:
Number of Applicants
Higher participation means tougher competition and higher cut off scores.
Difficulty Level of the Exam
If the exam is tougher, the overall scores drop, leading to a lower cut off.
Number of Seats Available
Fewer seats across NLUs lead to higher cut offs due to limited availability.
Reputation and Ranking of NLUs
Top NLUs like NLSIU Bengaluru, NALSAR Hyderabad, and WBNUJS Kolkata have much higher cut offs than newer ones.
Category of Candidate
Cut offs vary based on reservation categories — General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and PwD.
Candidate’s Preferences & Choices
The order of NLU preferences during counselling also influences the final cut off ranks.
Previous Year Trends
Past year’s cut off patterns help predict the current year’s range, especially if no major exam change occurs.
Total Number of Qualified Candidates
More candidates meeting the eligibility criteria can push the cut off higher.
